I’m an Ol’ Tennessean.

My Personal Brand reflects my love for The University of Tennessee Volunteers and their Athletic Programs, as well as the rest of the schools in the SEC. It also reflects my pride of being from Tennessee.

It is obvious that I love sports and everything to do with the sports world, so I follow a lot of big names in the sports world, like Paul Finebaum and Tim Brando. I also started following Jamele Hill after I attended her speech on campus last Spring. Paul Finebaum and Tim Brando think about their brand when they are posting anything on social media. In Tim Brando’s case, he tends to give his opinion and observation on topics in sports that are relevant to right now. Paul Finebaum sticks to what he does best and will post facts or records about major events in college sports. Finebaum is a historian of college athletics, and he talks about what he knows. Finebaum is my favorite person to follow, because I know he’s giving me a fact that I can trust. However, I decided a while ago to stop following Jamele Hill, because she tweets almost every five minutes, and it’s always just her opinion. She also tends to share her opinions about delicate topics without hesitation. She doesn’t seem to be worried about her brand. In my opinion, Hill chooses quantity over quality with her posts on social media, and I think that diminishes her brand. There’s not really much that makes Tim Brando’s brand stand out, other than his name, but Finebaum has a logo and jingle for his show which makes his brand very recognizable. Finebaum covers college sports, mostly football and basketball in the SEC since he works for the SEC Network owned by ESPN. Finebaum did a great job, in my opinion, of making his brand more recognizable through his logo. The logo is only a box, and all it says is, “The Paul Finebaum Show”. However, it’s the color scheme he used for his logo. He made his logo the same color scheme as the SEC logo, and that makes it stand out to me. When I see his logo, I know he’s talking about college sports, and probably the SEC.

When I google myself, the first two results are both social media, Facebook then LinkedIn. After the first two results, it’s my website, videos I’ve posted to YouTube and Vimeo, and a couple of stories that I have written. I was actually, very happy with what comes up after googling my name. It’s a lot of my work that I am proud of. The only thing I would like to change are things on my website, like my logo that show up on Google. I really want to change the font of my logo, and also have someone take a professional photo of me for my “About Me” page. I do wish my story about Anthony Miller was higher up on the Google search, and I wish it had a direct link to my interview with Brother Joel McGraw of CBHS. That interview is the work I am most proud of, but I can’t take all the credit. It was Brother Joel’s detailed interview that made the story. I was just honored to share the interview on my website.

If someone were to only see the google search, they would know that I love sports. Most of my video’s displayed by Google are related to a sport in some form, but there are a few that don’t have anything to with sports like my interview with Brother Joel. If they clicked on my website, they would see that I love my dog, I love my family, and they would learn that I’m Catholic. If they clicked on my Facebook page, they would probably would not think highly of me. However, I use Facebook for fun, and not for any kind of professional use. I use Twitter and LinkedIn for professional use, and they would see on LinkedIn that I am working on finishing my degree in sports journalism.

I had my best friend help me, by unfollowing me on social media, but the same results still came up in the same order as when he was following me on social media. The only difference was when he clicked on my Facebook, he couldn’t access as much content as before. So, whether you follow me or not, the same results still come up on Google when you google, Tripp Vistica. I think the fact that I am one of the two people in the state of Tennessee with the last name, Vistica helped Google find me easier. The only person in Tennessee with my last name is my biological father, whom I zero contact with. However, I am named after him and his father, so that is why I have the name Tripp. I think having such an uncommon name helps when you are Googling yourself.

When it comes to my brand, my biggest issue is with the font for my logo that I was forced to use for my courses. I really want to change it to a serif font, similar to the font used by the University of Tennessee. I’ve always loved the interlocking UT logo, and I want my logo to look similar but with a V instead of a U. I want to change this logo to be a big part of my brand, because without words, to me it says that I am a good old boy from Tennessee, and I believe that my southern accent and attitude separates me from the crowd. The only other thing I would change is my profile picture on the “About Me” page of my website, because it is very unprofessional, and I don’t think that picture gives a true image of me. The current photo makes me look like a character on Duck Dynasty.

I am on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo, Wakelet, and I have my website. For the most part they are consistent with my brand. A lot of my work is on those social media outlets I have an account with. I never really got into Instagram, so there really isn’t much on that site about me, and I should probably delete that account or learn to use it better and in a professional way. The only site that is not completely consistent with is Facebook, but Facebook does have a lot of my work on the site. It’s the photo’s that are in my Facebook account that are extremely unprofessional, but they do show I know how to have a good time. Deciding what to do with my Facebook account is hard, because it has a lot of my work, and the only thing that could be taken the wrong way are the photos. However, I believe those photos show that I’m a fun and outgoing person, so in a way it gives more detail to my overall personality.

My name is Tripp, because I am the third. I have lived in Tennessee all my life, and I love my state. I am family oriented, and I love my dog, BO. I am an alumnus of CBHS and the Pike fraternity. I love sports, especially baseball and football. I love to hunt and fish, but not as much as I love the VOLS and STL Cardinals baseball. However, I love my family even more, and I can’t put how much I love my dog into words. There’s no love like a boy and his dog.

My name is Tripp Vistica, and I am from the state of Tennessee. I am studying to be sports journalist and reporter at the University of Memphis. I have a beautiful family, and my sister has given me a great nephew, and recently a beautiful niece. I love my family more than anything, a lot more than I love sports. I am a huge Tennessee VOLS fan, and the St. Louis Cardinals are a close second to the VOLS. I also have nine-year-old lab named, BO, short for Big Orange. BO’s name is a tribute to my grandparents, and BO’s name can be traced back all the way back to 1993 when Tennessee landed future NFL Hall of Famer, Peyton Manning. My family bleeds Tennessee Orange. We love the VOLS, no matter how bad they are. We don’t waiver, and we don’t jump on bandwagons.

To improve my brand, I’m going to be more aware of what I post online, while at the same time trying to start posting more online. I just need to make sure the quality of my content fits my brand to help improve it. I will definitely make sure not to respond to stupid things on social media or post a comment out of emotion. If I can keep my emotions out of my posts, that would be the best way for me to improve my brand, in my opinion. If I let my emotions get in the way of anything I am posting, it is very likely for me to move away from my main topic to focus on my emotions about the topic.

As I stated before, I need to learn to use Instagram better, and also in a professional way. If I was an Instagram influencer right now, the best product that would fit with my brand is probably sports equipment. Everything from footballs to golf clubs. I know I could promote these items, because I know a lot about them, especially golf clubs. I’ve learned what clubs fit a golfer’s game best, depending on their swing thanks to the Head Golf Pro, Keith Penke, at Ridgeway Country Club. I believe I could showcase a particular golf club on Twitter or Instagram, after I learn how to use Instagram correctly, and I believe it would strengthen my brand. I would showcase the golf club by displaying the pros and cons of the club, along with when, where and how to use it on the golf course. I’ve been a golfer almost my entire life, so I’ve learned a lot about the different types of clubs as well as how to play golf. When you play golf, it’s just you against the golf course, and it’s all about knowing how to play a particular course. I believe this would strengthen my brand, because it would showcase more of my knowledge of sports. I think it would go a long way to have people take me seriously as a sports journalist and reporter.
